Building Igloos

Activity Objective: To practice engineering and creative thinking skills.

Materials Needed:

1. Small white marshmallows

2. toothpicks

Procedures/Strategies:

a. Simply present children with the materials and pose the challenge of creating an igloo.

b. For older children you may set limitation like the number of toothpicks they can use or the amount of time they have, however this is optional.

Guidance and Safety Considerations:

Make sure children do not get frustrated or competitive and are careful with sharp points of toothpicks.
