Painting on Ice

Developmental Goal/Activity Objective: To practice creative art and motor and sensory skills.

Materials Needed:

1. Water mixed with half a cup of baking soda and then frozen until solid

2. Paint

3. brushes

Procedures/Strategies:

a. Be sure to freeze your water baking soda mixture the night before and have enough for all children

b. Present children with the paint, brushes and ice and allow them to paint. Once they are done you can rinse the top of the ice in the sink with water and paint again. 

c. Discuss how the ice melts and this is why the paint disappears when you rinse it.
