Penguin Writing
Age: 3-5 PSC/GD
Curriculum Area: Literacy
Activity Objective: To practice writing and fine motor skills as well as letter identification.
Materials Needed:
1. Tray
2. Sugar
3. Toy penguins
Procedures/Strategies:
a. Cover a tray with a layer of sugar.
b. Create letter cue cards like the image below.
c. Have children trace the letters in the tray using a toy penguin.
d. You can also practice words.
e. Be sure to discuss letter sounds as you go through this activity and have children name the letters before tracing them out.
