1. Chart paper
a. Create a graph that has a yes and no column to answer the question “Do I hibernate”.
b. Collect names of animals or pictures of them from magazine clippings or online.
c. Present each animal to the class and ask if they hibernate. Categorize them on the chart.
For older children they may want to give them individual charts and do this activity independently or allow them to flip through magazines to find animals themselves and glue them to the chart.
Also, you may want to incorporate math into the activities by graphing the resultings, asking to count how many animals fit into each category, which category has more or less, and what the total number of animals asked about were.
