Activity Objective: To experiment with building structures using edible materials, and to practice fine motor skills.

Materials Needed:
  1. Paper plates
  2. Toothpicks
  3. Grapes

Procedures/Strategies:

a. Give children each a paper plate, some grapes and toothpicks. 

b. Instruct them to build a sculpture using only the toothpicks and the grapes.

c. For younger children, leave the activity open-ended like this. For      older children you may leave the activity open, or give them a limit in      their materials or time to create a challenge.

d. Let children eat the grapes too!

Guidance and Safety Considerations:

Be aware of any allergies. Make sure children build on their paper plates and their hands are clean before this activity so that they can eat their creations.
