Shake Painting Hearts

Age: 1-3 IT

Secondary Age: 3-5 PSC/GD, 5-10 OSC

Curriculum Area:
Art, Sensory/Experimental

Activity Objective: To practice experimental creative art skills as well as develop sensory skills.

Materials Needed:

1. Plastic food container

2. Construction paper hearts of various colours and sizes

3. One whole piece of construction paper (per child)

4. Glue

5. Paint

Procedures/Strategies:

a. Cut hearts out of construction paper.

b. Put paint of different colours (as many as you think would look good) into the container.

c. Put the cut out hearts into the container.

d. Put the lid on and let the children shake it.

e. Open the container and take the hearts out.

f. Let the paint on the hearts dry and then have children glue them to a piece of paper.

g. Let dry and display.

Guidance and Safety Considerations:

Be sure the container you use seals properly so as to avoid mess.
