Procedures/Strategies:

a. Draw a heart shape on construction paper and photocopy it or have each child draw a heart themselves.

b. Depending on their age, assist them or have them write I love you to pieces! Around the heart.

c. Then have children tear up construction paper of various colours (the example below has the construction paper cut but tearing it is easier for all age groups and the rough edges has a cool effect, gives the craft more texture).

d. Children can then glue to pieces into the heart shape.

e. This is also good to turn into a card by folding the piece of paper in half and letting children write a message to their mothers on the inside.
